Embryonic stem cells cure mice with multiple sclerosis

 08 Jun 2014 : 10:25PM

Several groups of scientists have observed similar results : mice who suffered from MS are able to walk again after receiving stem cells derived from human embryos

One of the research teams compared the effect of embryonic stem cells to the one of adult stem cells and the embryonic stem cells clearly outperform the adult ones.
Our understanding is that the embryonic stem cells carry specific information that signal the brain to repair and within minutes after their introduction in the body, the myelin is produced again, neurons are being repaired and the immune system is regulated.
